Children thrive when social and emotional learning (SEL) is integrated not just in Newton schools, but throughout the community.  When they shop, when they play, when they walk in our village centers, our children seeing the messages being taught at school only reinforces the learning.  Children become emotionally stronger where all sectors of a community work together to bring SEL out from schools and into our daily lives.

SEL4Newton is the first community-wide initiative to bring SEL out into the community to improve the health of ourselves and our children by learning and applying specific SEL skills.  This is an example of local action to take advantage of the known benefits of SEL taught in our own schools.
